Children with hearing loss face unique challenges managing classroom noise. Multiple talkers, new information and background noise can impact their ability to concentrate and learn. Find out how hearing loss affects classroom performance and what you can do. For more information on hearing loss in children click here.

Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) occurs in individuals with difficulties processing auditory information often described as “Central” Auditory processing deficit (CAPD). At East Coast, we perform a comprehensive Auditory Processing evaluation by our Doctors of Audiology alongside other specialists to dismiss any other concomitant deficits.

This evaluation helps us understand why individuals may struggle to understand speech stimuli especially in the presence of background noise, despite having normal or near normal hearing.
